Key features of the Neato D8

Overall Score 6.9

  • Can Clean All Floor Types
  • Has Included Washable Filters
  • Battery Power of 2100 mAh

The Neato D8 is a budget-friendly robot vacuum designed for smaller homes as advised by Naeto since its battery only runs for 100-minute, it uses a lidar for room mapping and has a user-friendly app to schedule cleaning. However, it cannot map more than one floor, has no problem-area cleaning function, and doesn't clean corners and edges effectively.

It has a simple setup, two power levels, and a high-performance filter, weighing about 8.07 pounds, and comes with two spare filters, a spiral combo brush, and a brush cleaning tool. The two cleaning modes are eco for hard floors and turbo for carpet cleaning. The side brush collects dirt from room edges and an 11-inch spiral combo brush covers maximum floor space with each pass.

Neato D8 cleans all floor types, this feature is essential, as different rooms within a home may have different types of flooring i.e. carpets. If a robot vacuum cleaner is stated able to clean all types of floors, it means that the robot vacuum is capable to effectively clean several flooring materials without much limitations.

The robot vacuum's ability to generate a map of its cleaning area is one of the commonly asked-for features. The map it creates allows the robot to "understand" the layout of the space. This can be used for several purposes, for example the Neato D8 having the mapping feature can dedicate efficient cleaning in the mapped-out areas without accessing those that are not.

Neato D8 has an obstacle sensor, this serves the purpose of detecting and identifying objects in the robot's way, this allwos it to navigate around them thus avoiding collisions. No-go zones is a feature of many robot vacuum cleaners and the Neato D8 is one of them. These zones are essentially digital boundaries or restricted areas that you can set up preventing the robot from entering specific areas or rooms during its cleaning cycle.

Most modern robot vacuum cleaners such as the Neato D8 are designed to work with Amazon Alexa, which implies that they can be added to the Amazon Echo ecosystem and programmed using voice commands. The Neato D8 is compatible with Google Assistant, allowing you to control it using voice commands through Google Home devices or the Google Assistant app found on smartphones and tablets. The Neato D8 has 3 cleaning modes, the cleaning modes offered by robot vacuum cleaners varies widely depending on the design of the robot vacuum.

Neato D8 has a period of 1 year, warranty periods typically range from 1 - 2 years, but some higher-end brands may give longer warranties. Neato D8 has washable filters, these are designed to capture dust, dirt, and fine particles during the cleaning process and can be easily removed and washed to keep up the vacuum's performance. The Neato D8's dustbin capacity is at 0.7L, dustbin capacity determines how much dust, debris, and pet hair the vacuum can hold before it can be emptied.

Many robot vacuum cleaners are equipped with sensors and indicators to notify users when the dustbin is full and needs to be emptied. Neato D8 supports this feature, which prevents the robot vacuum from getting clogged thus performance will be maintained as soon as the bin is emptied. Neato D8 weighs 4.7kg, robot vacuums are commonly designed to be lightweight and compact to easily get around and portability.

Neato D8 has a width of 330mm, aslo known as its cleaning path width, is the width of the area that it can effectively clean in a single pass. The width of a robot vacuum is key as it can affect its efficiency and the duration it takes to clean a space Neato D8's height measures 100mm, here you are looking at the measure from the bottom to its highest point. Height is an important consideration, especially if you have furniture with low clearance in your home.

The battery power of a robot vacuum cleaner is important as it determines how long the vacuum can run on a single charge. It is measured in milliampere-hours (mAh), Neato D8's battery power is 2100mAh The operating time of the Neato D8 refers to the time the vacuum can clean continuously on a single battery charge before it needs to be recharged. Neato D8's operating time is 1.7h Neato D8 has a charge time of 3h, the charge time of a robot vacuum cleaner refers to the amount of time it takes for the vacuum's battery to recharge fully after it has been depleted during a cleaning cycle.

Neato D8 has a dirt sensor, dirt sensors are designed to detect the concentration of dirt, dust, or debris in the space being cleaned and based on their readings adjust the vacuum's cleaning behavior during cleaning cycle. Neato D8 has carpet detection, which allows the vacuum to identify and adapt to all kinds of floor surfaces, specifically recognizing when it transitions from hard floors like tile to areas with carpets. Neato D8 supports a smartphone app, through which you can control and monitor the vacuum remotely through your smartphone or tablet.

This feature in robot vacuum cleaners is intended to eliminate the chance of the robot vacuum becoming trapped during cleaning. Robot vacuums such as the Neato D8 are equipped with various sensors and technologies to move around obstacles and avoid getting trapped, however the effectiveness of this feature varies among different models. Virtual barriers are set up and controlled via the robot vacuum's mobile app, similar to no-go zones, these barriers are designed to enable you control and restrict where the robot vacuum can and cannot go during cleaning.

Neato D8 has a route mapping feature which enables it to create a map of your space and plan efficient cleaning routes. This mapping capability enhances the vacuum's ability to work effectively and systematically. Auto-docking is a feature that indicates the vacuum's ability to return to its docking station when predetermined conditions are met such as done with cleaning, battery running low, or any malfunction.

Most robot vacuum cleaners such as Neato D8 come equipped with an "anti-fall" feature. This feature is intended to save the robot vacuum from falling off stairs, ledges, or other elevated surfaces, ensuring its safety while cleaning. Neato D8 has this convenient feature, which allows you to set specific days or times of day for the robot vacuum to automatically start working.

Neato D8 supports Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi-enabled robot vacuums offer several advantages and features, such as remote control, mobile app integration, voice assistant compatibility, and remote monitoring.
